I’m starting the blogging year 2016 in the most cliche way: listing down my New Year’s resolutions! I love doing lists, and especially this kind of. I get so enthusiastic when planning the future and how to make it better, how to improve myself and my blog, and basically life. So here they are!
Aloitan blogini uuden vuoden 2016 kliseisimmällä tavalla: uuden vuoden lupauksilla! Rakastan listojen tekemistä, ja varsinkin tällaisten. Innostun niin uusista aluista, ja ideoista miten parantaa yleisesti elämää. Toisia uuden vuoden lupaukset saattavat ärsyttää ja ahdistaa, mutta parempi tehdä siis kivoja lupauksia!
1. Answer everything right away
Sometimes later becomes never – I’ve used this quote many times to remind myself what always happens to me when I postpone answering. My challenge for the new year: answer asap all e-mails, text messages, comments, everything. Answering telepathically inside my head doesn’t work. If you can’t answer right away, write down to remember to answer.
1. Vastaa kaikkeen (mahdollisimman) nopeasti
Usein vastaamista lykätessäni unohdan vastaamisen kokonaan, niinkuin asioita lykätessä usein tapahtuu. Eikä telepaattiset viestit ikinä mene perille, usein kun mielessäni kuitenkin vastaan kaikkeen heti. Eli haaste uudelle vuodelle: vastaa samantien meileihin, tekstareihin, kommentteihin, kaikkeen. Jos et pysty heti vastaamaan, laita muistutus itsellesi.
2. Be more organized
I love organizing, and in a way I consider myself as an organized person. I love having practical storage solutions in my home. Like my makeup drawers, kitchen shelves and my wardrobe organization. But let’s be honest, I have my weak spots. Like you saw (accidentally) on that post where I showed my new iPhone, I have over 13 000 unread e-mails. (How? Why?) So I want to recognize my weak spots, I easily just start avoiding them and keep being good in the things that I’m good already, but now it’s time to tackle the ones I’m really having problems with. I need to write things down more (not just on random pieces of paper that I’ll lose), use my calendar more, do to do-lists for each day or week. Also I want to declutter my home more, I have a really stupid box which is full of stuff that don’t have place anywhere. And I nearly ever need anything from there.
Today I took a step towards being more organized. I went to Ikea. Hahah! (Haul post or home storage posts wanted?) And now I downloaded an app called Wunderlist, is that the best organizing app or are there better ones?
2. Ole järjestelmällisempi
Rakastan tavaroiden järjestelyä ja kaikkia mahdollisimman käytännöllisiä kotiratkaisuja. Esimerkiksi kotonani keittiön kaapit, meikkilaatikosto ja vaatekaappi on huolella järjesteltyjä. Mutta oikeasti osaan olla myös järjestelmällisyyden vastakohta. Kuten vahingossa puhelinpostauksessani paljastui, mulla on yli 13 000 lukematonta meiliä. (Miten? Miksi?) Oon hyvä olemaan järjestelmällinen niissä asioissa missä mä sitä jo olen, ja sitten on asioita, joita välttelen koska ne tuntuu niin mahdottomilta. Nyt on aika tunnistaa ja ottaa haasteeksi niihin juttuihin tarttuminen! Apuna tässä kirjoita enemmän muistettavia asioita ylös, käytä enemmän kalenteria, tee to do-listoja jokaiselle päivälle tai vähintään viikolle. Ja karsi tavaraa kotona. Mulla on esimerkiksi niin ärsyttävä laatikko, johon oon kerännyt tavaroita joilla ei ole mitään paikkaa, ja joita en ikinä tarvitse. Eiköhän olisi aika hyvästellä koko turhan laatikon idea, eikä kerätä enempää outoa pikkukrääsää.
Tänään otin pienen askeleen kohti järjestelmällisempää elämää, käymällä Ikeassa. Haha! Pitäisiköhän esitellä ostoksia ja kodin järjestelmällisyysratkaisuja täälläkin? Ehkä inspiroisi itseäni vielä keksimään uutta… Latasin myös appin nimeltä Wunderlist, vinkatkaa ihmeessä jos tiedätte vielä jonkun paremman tämän tyylisen!
3. Stay active
I did do pretty good job last year with gym routines, so I’ll continue that. Means approximately going to the gym 3-5 times a week, doing whatever I feel like doing, body pump or pilates or whatever! And without stressing if a week goes by without working out or even having lighter months, like I didn’t work out much during the summer or that much in December. So not beating myself up about it, but I still know that it’s easiest and best to keep it as an ongoing routine. That’s how it comes naturally, and the flow of feeling good is easier to achieve. And remember to only focus on how you want to feel, not how you want to look. My resolution still means more staying active in general. I live alone (with my dog), and I work from home, so I gotta pay attention to staying active. Helps my creativity and makes me feel good, and helps just everything.
Eating wise I won’t make any resolutions, I believe that listening to your body is the best way. It needs and craves both for fresh salads and smoothies, but also for pizza and candies. Everything in moderation. (In December though moderation was forgotten.)
3. Pysy aktiivisena
Viime vuonna kävin salilla ihan kiitettävästi, keskimäärin 3-5 kertaa viikossa, tehden mitä milloinkin mieli teki tehdä. Kaikkea bodypumpista pilatekseen, sitä jatketaan! Eikä stressiä vaikka joku viikko menisikin ilman treenejä, tai tulisi kevyempiä kuukausiakin, en mä viime vuonnakaan kesällä ehtinyt/jaksanut/huvittanut käydä salilla, enkä kovin paljon joulukuussakaan. Sellaista se välillä on, turha soimata itseä pienistä tauoista. Silti tiedän, että paras on pitää ne treenit jatkuvana elämäntyylinä, niin pysyy hyvä energinen flow päällä. Eli 100% vain keskittyy edelleen siihen omaan hyvään oloon, ei ulkoisia tavoitteita, jotka ainakin itseäni vain ahdistaisivat. Lupaukseni koskee nyt kuitenkin enemmän yleistä aktiivisuutta. Elän yksin (koiran kanssa), ja teen vielä töitä kotoa käsin, eli mun täytyy itse pitää huoli aktiivisuudestani. Ja se on tärkeää se, vaikuttaa mulla kaikkeen luovuudesta henkiseen hyvinvointiin.
Mitä syömiseen tulee, en tee siihen liittyen lupauksia. Uskon että oman kropan kuuntelu on tärkeintä, se tietää mitä tarvitsee. Välillä se on raikkaita salaatteja ja smoothieita, välillä pizzaa tai karkkia. Kaikkea kohtuudella. (Vaikka joulukuussa saattoi kohtuus olla jossain muualla.)
4. Drink more water
I have my big Starbucks tumbler (clear plastic one with a straw), which I think is half liter large, so I should probably fill that up at least three times a day. So far I’ve remembered always to do that in the morning, but then later the day sometimes succeeding sometimes forgetting. But now – pay attention!! Maybe I’ll download an app for this too. Yes, I’m excited about my new phone…
4. Juo enemmän vettä
Mulla on iso Starbucksin läpinäkyvä pillillinen mukini, johon menee varmaankin puoli litraa vettä. Se olisi tavoitteenani täyttää vähintään kolme kertaa päivässä. Tähän asti olen aina muistanut tuon aamulla, mutta loppupäivän aikana sitten usein unohtunut. Nyt siihen tarkkaavaisuutta! Pitäisiköhän mun ladata tätäkin varten jokin appi? Hah joo, olen innoissani uudesta puhelimestani.
5. The little things
– Read more. There are so many books I want to read, and I love the feeling when you get really addicted to a book. When you lose track of time and place, and just dive into another reality.
– Be more spontaneous in everything. Planning is good, but being spontaneous is sometimes better.
– Start a new hobby, agility with Minnie?
– Care less what other people think.
– When you feel helpless, help someone. At first I didn’t fully get this, what Gabrielle Bernstein taught on her book, but after trying I got it.
– Be kind to yourself. Stop the negative internal dialogue.
– Learn new meals to cook. Find good recipe blogs! Or again, download a new app for this.
– Do something completely new for the blog. I have already ideas, so more about this soon. (+ Update the blog layout!)
5. Ne pienet jutut
– Lue enemmän. On niin paljon kirjoja, jotka haluaisin lukea, joten nyt se iltaisin kännykän näprääminen saa loppua vähentyä. Ei ole varmaan mitään parempaa, kuin addiktoitua kirjasta, ja uppoutua iltaisin muihin maailmoihin. Ja odottaa sitä hetkeä.
– Ole spontaanimpi kaikessa. Suunnittelu on välillä ihan fiksua, mutta usein spontaanius on hauskempaa.
– Aloita uusi harrastus, agility Minnien kanssa?
– Mieti vähemmän mitä muut ajattelevat.
– Kun olo on toivoton, auta jotain toista. En alkuun ymmärtänyt tätä Gabbyn oppia, mutta vain kokeilemalla sen tajusin.
– Ole armollisempi itsellesi. Negatiivinen sisäinen puhe itselle on turhaa ja lannistavaa.
– Kokkaa uusilla resepteillä, löydä ruokablogeja tai lataa tähänkin jokin appi.
– Tee jotain täysin uutta blogiin. Mulla on tähän jo pari ideaa, niistä lisää myöhemmin. (Ja uudista blogin ulkoasu!!)

Mun uuden vuoden tavoite on olla onnellinen ja tähän tavoitteeseen pääsen niillä pienillä lupauksilla, joita oon tehnyt itselleni! Mulla on ollut ihan liian kiireinen vuosi takana ja itsestä huolehtiminen on jäänyt kokonaan unholaan, joten ei oo varmaan vaikea arvata, että tästä lähdetään liikkelle. Oon varannut ajan hierojalle, viettänyt enemmän aikaa poikaystävän kainalossa jutellen (puhelimet molemmilla muualla kuin käsissä) ja lukenut kirjaa. Hyvä aloitus tälle vuodelle! 🙂

First thing first: Happy New Year, Marianna! I’m really glad with the fresh start of 2016.
I didn’t plan to make any resolutions, but then I thought why not? And I summed it up as “JUST DO IT”, it’s pretty much your topic 1, but in my case it applies to my whole life.
Yes, I think I need a bit of everything you wrote, but my biggest problem is that I keep pushing things for later because of work, because I have to deal with other things or people and in the end weeks, months have gone by. Well, no more!

Also I really recmmend app called Plant Nanny, it´s really fun and you have toplant different plants in “your garden” and give “them” (Actually for yourself) water so they can grow 🙂

I love how your resolutions are actually more like life goals. Because you don’t focus on reading like 25 books this year or hitting a precise weight. It’s wiser to do like that because you’ll be happy with yourself by just reading more whereas if you set a goal for 25 books and only read 10 then you’ll be dissapointed. I don’t know if what I wrote makes a lot of sense because it’s late right now in Paris ahah but the overall message of my comment is that I really enjoyed reading this post

Great resolutions! I think with organizing your to-do notes, that’s been my biggest struggle. I just started a bullet journal (if you search it on pinterest or google, lots of blogs about it!) and I think it’s going to be a fun creative outlet and a way to keep on top of stuff! Also the Day Designer by Whitney English keeps me SOO organized with work stuff. Good luck!!

Moi 🙂 olen Pietarista kotoisin, ja meillä ei tehdä lupauksia, vaan toivotaan mitä halutaan saada/saavuttaa tulevana vuonna.. ja pitää toivoa vielä tiettynä aikana, kuluvan vuoden viimeisen sekunnin aikana… mä aina toivon jotain erikoista ja todella tärkeätä mulle, ja joka vuosi se toteutuu… uskon, että tämän vuoden toive käy myös toteen 🙂

Great resolutions! Fingers crossed for staying motivated for the whole year! I usually don’t do resulotions. This year is going be about my education, I’m at writing school and when I’ll finish it this year, I want to start another school, but abroad. So I know I have to just work hard for my dreams come true. Also, I want to stay active and not being only intelectual, do something good for my body as well as for mind and keep doing yoga a lot as I did last year. And that’s it. Not much, but a lot for me. Oh, I’d also like to find a husband or love of my life 😉 but that’s not something I can plan (unfortunately?) ha ha.

Happy New Year, Marianna! I enjoy your new year’s resolutions. I share the “drink more water” resolution with you! I tend not to make new year’s resolutions, but I’m focusing instead this year on my blog. Since it’s still pretty new, I’m still coming up with ideas. This year, I want to focus more on trying new recipes and posting about them (working on stuffed shells post tonight) and adding a book club to my blog. I’m currently reading the book by Lindsey Kelk that you showed on your blog, but after I finish it, my next book will be my first blog book club pick!

I read a book called The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, by Marie Kondo. It’s about organization but mostly about how you should only keep the things that bring you happiness and how you should be thankful for what you have! You may like it! Organization + book = two goals!

iphoneen saa helposti appin mikä muistuttaa juomaan vettä. jos ei muuta niin kalorilaskuri-appeissa on yleensä mukana veden juonnin muistutus ominaisuutena 🙂 itselläni menee taas vähän päinvastoin kuin sulla – aamulla vettä ei mene melkeen millään mutta illemmalla sitä ruvetaan litkimään jotta saataisiin edes 1-1,5 litraa täyteen… voisi tän kanssa kyllä parantaa 😀

I like your resolutions! For me its just being open minded and outgoing as I am moving to London soon in March.I don’t know many people there and the biggest challenge for me will be to go up to people and talk to them, and literally make friends. I am always insecure when meeting new people and I need to change that for my stay in London. So we will see how that goes haha!

I like your resolutions, you inspired me for some of the resolutions that I know I have deep in my mind but didn’t have on paper yet. It’s probably best to write them down anyway to keep remembering them ^^
Some of my resolutions are; graduating, travel more often, pay more attions to what ha ore priority and find my own style 🙂

Tohon veden juomiseen suosittelen lataa appin nimeltä Waterlogged, johon joka lasillisen/pullollisen jälkeen merkataan, että kuinka monta desilitraa on tullut vettä juotua.

7. read more… (I buy so many interesting books that I don’t take the time to read!!)

Tänä vuonna on tavoitteena olla aktiivisempi, tarkempi rahan kanssa ja pyrkiä jättämään säästöön joka kuukausi jotain, syödä enemmän kasviksia ja pitää itsestä parempaa huolta. Pieniä juttuja millä saisi arjen paremmin luistamaan 🙂

I use it to mark down what to get from shop; which books to read; which films to watch; when going to a trip, then I start to mark down what to bring with me weeks before going.. Mulla oli vuosina -12 ja -13 tapana tehdä tammikuun ensimmäisten päivien aikana sellanen lista jossa on tavoitteita seuraavalle vuodelle ja aina niiden toteutuessa yliviivata ne 🙂 Eilen aloin tekemään samanlaista taas tällekkin vuodelle. Joten tollaiset tavoite listat on mulle helpompia kuin lupaukset, koska en oo varmasti ikinä saanu pidettyä niitä ja niistä tulee sellainen ahdistava tunne kun pelkään pettäväni itseni jos en onnistu. Tavoitteina tälle vuodelle olisi esimerkiksi matkustaa täältä Oulusta sinneppäin isoille kylille moikkaamaan kavereita ja saada töitä 🙂 Itsekkin tälläisenä kaikesta asioista listoja tekevänä latasin tuon Appin ja hyvältä vaikuttaa 😀 Tuli tässä yksi postaus idea mieleen, että jos kertoisit mitä kaikkia Appejä sulla on puhelimessa ja mitkä ovat ns. tärkeimmät yms 🙂

Mä päätin ihan tietoisesti olla tekemättä tälle vuodelle mitään varsinaisia lupauksia, vaan niiden sijaan asetin itselleni tavoitteita ja haaveita, joita kohti pyrkiä 🙂 Jotenkin paljon motivoivampi ja parempi tapa mulle!

Moikka! Meidän perheessä ei oo jostain syystä ikinä ollut tapana tehdä uudenvuodenlupauksia, enkä oo tänäkään vuonna tehnyt yhtäkään. Sun lupaukset näyttää sen sijaan tosi hyviltä ja sellaisilta, joista itsekin voi taatusti ottaa mallia 🙂 Varsinkin toi lukeminen kuulostaa lupaavalta, on nimittäin nyt lomallakin tullut vietettyä aika monta tuntia Netflixissä… Kun alotin lukemaan yhtä uutta kiinnostavaa romaania, huomasin heti, kuinka paljon vähemmän nuutunut olo oli verrattuna Netflixin jälkeiseen olotilaan!

I usually don’t make any resolutions, it’s really not my thing 😉 although for this year I swore to myself not to spend a christmas time with a family, I just have enough of this kind of entertainment 😉 there is nothing wrong with my family, I just want something different (like to go somewhere, to see how christmas looks like in some exotic places etc.). And another thing I want to do this year – to dye my hair blonde 😀 (my natural color is a bit reddish, brown reddish and I actually really like it, but I just want to see how I would look in blonde :D). I never dyed my hair before, so would be something new for me.

Happy New Year, Marianna! I think your resolutions are great. I want go gain some weight and I noticed that you were skinny earlier, just like me now, so I was wondering has gym helped you with gaining weight or something else?

I’ve just finished the book Magic Cleaning by Marie Kondo and think that most of it is really helpful in regards to getting organized at home (a few things are a bit over the top, though!). Maybe you like it as well – it’s also a huge hit in Japan.

Hey, Marianna. Happy New Year!
It is very interesting what you meant, when you said about hobbies and Minnie, do you mean training? 🙂 By the way, she is so cute!
It’s great when people set goals, and most importantly try their best to achieve them. I’m sure that you will be able to achieve your goals.
I did my list of goals for 2016 too.
-The first, is to find more time for myself. By this I mean to go to the gym (like you, I think 3-5 times), to do beauty treatments and of course the food! Just healthy food! 🙂
-The second, maintain health. I had a difficult surgery three years ago and therefore I need to look after myself better. Especially in winter.
-Third is to spend more time with my son, and more help him to be prepared for school next year. As a single mom, sometimes it’s quite hard)))
-Be patient with people who pay less attention to what others think. And also, no matter what, stay positive and polite (in the first place, to myself).
-And finally, I actually entered it into my list, but not 100% sure that I can do this for many reasons. I want to start my own fitness blog. But never know, maybe I can do this this year.
Thank you for your posts, and in many ways for motivation, is always very nice to read it, I wish you, once again, to achieve you goals! Always remember, no matter what-smile and be positive 🙂
