On the last post I wrote how I had a relaxing weekend to celebrate my birthday: good food, seeing my family, organising home and watching Gossip Girl. Well after that it was time to work. I tried to do every single thing from my to do list, everything from work stuff to personal things. I had to remember once again, that a to do -list can never be completed. It’s a fact that needs to be accepted ,everything is always unfinished in life. And I guess it’s a good thing too, there’s always something and it’s even enjoyable when you find the right mindset. (Well accounting stuff and paper work are far from enjoyable, but the feeling after completing another set is worth it.)
Still sometimes I need a reminder, that you don’t need to earn the moments when you can finally relax by being a super human. You just need them, no exceptions. The moments when you can do whatever you want, even if it’s something really pointless. Because it isn’t pointless at all, it could be vital to keep you being real and happy you. For example, I’ve neglected on reading and drawing. I have too many books unread, and I miss that feeling when you can’t wait for the evening when you can continue reading a book you’re addicted to, just get sucked into that world and forget everything else. And drawing, my aquarelles and pencils have been too long hidden in a box, the dust layer on it is alarming. From now on those things are on my to do lists too. Oh and marathon calls with my friend who lives in another city, what happened to them? When we talked about anything, everything and nothing, still the calls were like therapy. Less mindless scrolling through the internet, news and instagram, and more mindful choices.
Hope your week has started well! And I hope this is a reminder for you too, if you need it. 🙂 x
Yritin tehdä jokaisen pienenkin asian to do -listaltani, muistaakseni taas että sehän on mahdotonta. Onko yksikään to do -list ikinä tullut tehdyksi täydellisesti?
Toivottavasti teillä on viikko lähtenyt hyvin käyntiin! 🙂 x

Happy belated birthday Marianna, I’m glad you had a lovely birthday.
I’m also stuck doing to-do list everyday and it never stops and I get so caught up with work and errands I don’t take the time to read. We need to start actually living, instead of living in the digital world. It’s so easy to forget what’s around you. Thanks for the reminder Marianna.
btw cute blazer, I really like it. <3

Hi Marianna! Your post is just in time. I also thinking about this now. Internet and social networks take a lot of time, and i also miss reading books, watching good films and painting. I think we should remember about our hobbies, though sometimes it’s easier to scroll instagram feed instead. But these things make us who we are. This problem is now my object of reflection for a long time, i try to be less network person and find time for my passions. And i’m glad to see that i’m not alone) Keep going and always be true to yourself) And happy belated birthday! :-*****

Exactly, I have the same goal 🙂 Thank you so much lovely Mariana! x

Basically the only person that you “owe” an explanation or justification to is yourself.
We’re sometimes too harsh on ourselves with the never-ending and sometime unrealistic to do lists and such. It’s totally ok to take time off, to just do like you’ve said something “pointless” and feel absolutely ok about that. 🙂
More spontaneous and self-loving moments is the key to more happiness on daily basis.

Love this post! I’m sure it’s my imagination, but so far, the couple of posts you have published since your birthday sound more mature. 🙂 Maybe it’s just because your birthday is still fresh, and I’m sure you’ve been thinking about life as you’ve turned a year older, the way most of us do. Still, I enjoy your posts “with a personal message” about life. I used to comment a lot, but have been slacking lately, so I hope to make more effort to comment on your posts again, especially if they’re going to stay of this high quality.
Happy Belated Birthday!
Aimee

Oh yes, useless getting lost in the digital world – just because it’s easy. And afterwards I don‘t feel good. Not because of bad concience, but because the time I‘ve spent feels lost and useless, different to time I‘m getting lost in a good book. It‘s not such empty information or something like that. If you have any tips on how to stop yourself from browsing through Instagram and get your butt up – I‘d ve happy to know…
Nice look by the way. Love the Blazer!!
Marianna says
Yup that’s a dangerous and easy trap. I know exactly what you mean, that time could be spent much better. I’ll have to try mindful thinking with this, and I’ll come up with a post soon how it’s been going if I have any tips. 🙂 Thank you Sarah! x
Sarah says
That would be great! I´ve tried with setting limits (like Instagram only once a day, or a maximum of 20 minutes or something like that); didn´t work out for me….
Lydia says
Making mindful choices is really important, it’s so easy to forget that…I think I’ll read a book and not scroll through Facebook (like I usually do) before bed tonight… 🙂
