Me and my mum have a habit of going once a year – usually summer – somewhere for a short city vacation. This time it’s going to be five days in London! So we’ll be there exactly two weeks from now! I’m so excited, since I’ve never been to London before! Have you? If so, please share some tips and experiences! About shopping, sightseeing, restaurants/cafes, musicals? Anything 🙂 Thank you!

You’re going to love it!
I’ve been to London twice and it’s always a pleasure to visit it! For your shopping, there’s Oxford Street where you can find like all the shops you want to and if you want some vintages things, you totally should go to Camden town.
To eat, there’s Nandos, where the food is absolutely delicious! You won’t regret it! 🙂
And you can’t leave London without visiting some monuments like the Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and if you want to rest a little go to the Hyde Park, it’s always good to have a little walk there! And try to visit the British Museum, it’s breath taking.
Enjoy London and I bet we’re going to love your coming posts about it!

I live in England! You’ll love London, its such an amazing city, everyone is so interesting a laid back! Go to Westfield shopping centre in White City, Kings Road has a really nice atmosphere and lots of unique shops, Portabello Road in Notting Hill for antiques and vintage finds, Saturday is the best day. Camden Market is similar but a bit more crazy! If you haven’t seen the musical Wiked you should see if there are any tickets for sale! the singing makes your hairs stand on end and gives you goose bumps! Ziani’s in Chelsea is a tiny resturant with the most amazing food, and its always super busy so a great atmosphere. The Botanist in Sloane Square is great for breakfast. Covent Garden always has loads of Buskers doing really interesting shows and they always get the audience involved. The V&A is a fashion museum that has a large fashion and photography and jewellery area and they have a an exhibition at the moment all about ball gowns through the ages, i’m desperate to see it! The Tate Modern is an art museum and there is a massive Damien Hirst exhibition at the moment there which looks amazing and has been all over the papers in England! Hope this helps a bit and I hope you have a fantastic time!!! xxx

You will have a great trip! London is the best city in the world if you ask me. I’ve been there quite some times now, and it never bores. Althought the touristy stuff is a lot of fun, and you should def do some of it if you’re going to London for the first time, try to also get outside of the centre a little bit. My favourite neighbourhood is Hampstead. It’s like a little village inside the big city. Just stroll the streets, have something to eat at one of the many lovely places and then set out for Hampstead Heath, without doubt the best green space of London. Personally I always really enjoy a visit to Greenwich, especially if you take the boat to get there. For a great view of the city you should go to Primrose Hill. Walk along regent’s canal from Camden all the way to Little Venice, it is SUCH a nice walk (and LV is lovely as well). Explore the streets of Bloomsbury, visit the bookstores and go have lunch at the little place right next to Russell Square underground station, they have THE best sandwiches (lemon chicken is my favourite). Spend a day in Notting Hill, but do make sure you see more of it than just Portobello Road. Don’t go on Saturday, it’s simply too busy. Have lunch at Charlie’s (a hidden cafe at Portobello road). Join in on a couple of London Walks tours (just google it), they are great! No need to book in advance, just show up, pay 8 pounds and enjoy the next two hours: you will see a London that you will not find on your own. Walk towards St Pauls via Millenium Bridge. In general: walk along the Thames as much as you can. It’s so peaceful and nice. Also, visit as many parks as you can! I love Regent’s. Have dinner at Charlotte street. Gosh, there is so much more. Go to Gordon’s wine bar. Further down the same street is a great Mexican place, forgot the name… There’s a really good Korean on High Holborn. Go to the Welcome Collection on Euston Road for scones and interesting exhibitions. I could go on forever, feel free to email me. Have fun! I’m sure you will 🙂
Marta says
I recommend going to Nando’s and Pizza Express as they are cheap and very popular in London. Also, Ed’s Easy Diner in Soho or Trocadero is a nice place to go 😀 Aside from going to Topshop and Zara I recommend River Island and Primark (the second one is really cheap). You gotta go to Harrods and Selfridge’s even if you won’t be buying anything. When you’re in Selfridge’s in Oxford Street, check out Pinkberry and get one of their frozen yoghurts. Yum. Also, Westfield London is a great place to visit as it’s very pretty and you have all the shops in one place. Having picnic style lunch in Hyde Park is very pleasant. Have a nice trip.

London is an amazing place! Here are some of mine recommendations:
-Borough Market, nice organic food market with everything you could imagine, so yummy and nice atmosphere.
-The White Company, like a candy store! Everything is white! Decor for home, lounge wear etc.
-Fortumn & Mason afternoon tea
-All the musicals! Especially chicago. You get cheaper tickets from the tkts at leivester square but remember to go early, like 10 am
Have a great time!

I live in London – unfortunately just 5 months left until I’ll move! 🙁 Anyway, you should definitely go to Shoreditch, Hoxton and Brick Lane. A really fashionable, edgy kind of area – great cafes, bars, secod hand shops and nice people. Brick Lane on sunday is so good – way better than Camden (except you like typical tourist places better than the ‘real’ London). There is Sunday Up Market, good for vintage shopping and don’t forget to try some of the various kinds of food there. Have a nice trip! 🙂

Lontoo on ihan super kohde!

You’ll find the best shops and the really interesting sites of london in these little streets and outside of the big and famous streets, you’ve only follow the natives and you’ll find. Often there’re little market places and they sell there goods for really little money.. In the little restaurants and snack bars you often find pictures of the queen and so on, realls nice, i hope you’ll have fun and enjoy it!
Kinga says
I go there every year (once or twice). Definately take one day for Oxford Street, start from Primark and go until the Leicester Square Station, so you will be able to visit every shop in one day. Day also trip to Camden Town, it’s fabulous. If you’ll be during Queen’s Celebration Day, you must see it. You can start from the Westminster and finish somewhere near the Tower Bridge, go on the other side and find Dickens Inn for a pint of beer or perfect Tikka Masala dish after a long walk. 🙂
You should also see the Greenwich and maybe Portobello Road. Convent Garden is also a must for ice-cream from the Skull place and its atmosphere. 🙂
Hope you’ll enjoy your London trip and bring yourself many beautiful memories and even more wonderful shopping pieces. 🙂

Marianna, you will fall in love in London! 🙂 I used to live there and it’s very interesting place to visit. Lots of shops, restaurants, museums and many other stunning places for sithseeing. I can recommend you Westfield shopping center (one is on Sheperd’s Bush and another one on Stratford) as lots of brands are focus in one place. Oxford Circus has its own atmoshere but… be careful – during a weekend it’s immensely busy. Go to Museum of London (it’s in Barbican, free of charge) if you like to know something about London history. The advantage of London’s museums is that mostly they are for free:) Hope you will have a great time:) Enjoy your stay in London!

Lontoo on todella hieno!
Lempparini 🙂

Lontoossa on helpointa kulkea juuri undergroundilla, bussit on paljon sekavampia, ainakin omasta mielestä:D Lisäks undergroundilla pääsee hyvin kaikkien päänähtävyyksien, kuten Big Benin luo.

– The tourist attractions like the London eye- fantastic view for photography.
Have a great trip 🙂

oh wow! i was in london one month ago, for five days as well. it’s so beautiful! you have go to the camden market, it’s colorful und so nice. the houses looking so great. the best day for visting is saturday or sunday. so i would suggest to go there on the 27th. also there is a market in notting hill, but i had’nt time to go there, but notting hill is so pretty even without the market. all houses are so sweet and colorful. and there is such a sweet cupcake bakery called hummingbird, yummi! there are 5 of them in london. if you like sweet cupcakes you have to visit one of them. and if you like go to the london eye do it, the view is amazing. (tube: waterloo) even if you suffer from vertigo, i didn’t have any problems. it’s worth it! if you go there early in the morning you don’t have to wait so long so you can save the money for the fast track ticket. around £ 20 per person. i would suggest you to buy the tickets at your hotel. the tower bridge exhibition is interesstig as well. £ 8 per person. you go on the bridge with the look and have a nice look over the thames and in the machine rooms you see how the bridge works. the tower of london costs around £ 21 but you need a lot of time for it. particularly if you want to see the crown jewels. i didn’t want to wait so long for them, but some things in the tower are interessing. and of course the big ben and houses of parliament are wonderful. and westminster abbey. it’s about £ 15 if you want to go inside. and everyday is changing the guard, it’s around 11:15 but you have to be there a bit earlier. it takes about 30 – 45 minutes. but the guards are just walking a bit, playing a bit music, walking, music.. that’s all. but it’s amazing how much people come there and how good it’s organized. and london is soo green. everywhere parks, so pretty! hyde park, st. james park, green park, ect. and you have to see trafalgar sqaure, piccadilly circus and for shopping of course the oxford circus! topshop, urban outfitters, forever 21, primark ect. but you need time for it. so plan your stay, so that you can use your time useful. harrods is also such a big department store, you can’t see everything, but you will be impressed. and don’t use only the underground, with the bus you can see so much more! underground + bus oyster card is about £ 35. i would suggest you to do a walking tour. it’s a nice way to see london. i wish you sooo much fun and i’m looking forward to see your pictures. hope i could help you 🙂

Hi Marianna
I agree with a lot of the London locals above.
I also live in London and have worked as a peronal shopper/assistant to many international client who visit the city. Having read your blog I think you will like the following places.
1. The Riding House Cafe which is very close to the big Topshop on Oxford Street. They just won an award and do an amazing brunch menu. It’s seriously the new ‘in’ place for brunch.
2. For dinner or lunch I suggest Barrafina in Soho. Great location and they do the best tapas in London. Automat is a brilliant place to eat and take reservations.
3. As for shopping, I recommend Kings Road if you’re staying South of the river. Otherwise stick to places like Selfridges (voted best place to shop in the world). It mean you’ll spend less time running around in various parts of London.
4. I agree with the above, the Damien Hirst exhibit is the new thing tosee .
5. Off the beaten track: Go to Marylebone High Street or Bond Street. (not far from Oxfor Street). As for Musicals, I recetly saw Matilda which was simply incredible and just won an award for best new musical.
If you want a truly spectacular meal I suggest booking a table for Pret a Diner. It’s literally a once in a lifetime experience and will be in London when you are here.
Anyway I hope that helps. E-mail me at [email protected] if you have anymore questions.

I have a habit, going to London every year, just for a while, you have to love or hate this city 🙂
The National Gallery is definitelly worth-seeing! But it takes two or three hours to see it all… National Portrait gallery is also very nice, but the most important part is probably modern art, where you can see Andy Warholl’s works, so enjoy it:)

I visit London very often because i have relatives there. You have to visit Soho (Bars, Restaurants, Shops), it’s round the corner of Regent’s Street. There is the hummingbird bakery, best cupcakes in town. Also go to covent garden, its beautiful! From there you can walk to the london eye and westminster, where the big ben is 🙂 Go on a sightseeing bus, its worth it because you see everything in a few hours 🙂 And visit camden town, there are many vintage shops! Dont forget regents park, its really beautiful and big 🙂 If you need more information, check out my blog, there are many posts about london 🙂

I went to London before christmas and LOVED IT!
It’s such an amazing city!
I guess you already know which hotel you’ll go, but maybe for the next time I can recommend Hotel Tower Bridge, it’s really new and modern and nice!
There’s so much to see, one really great decission of ours was to go for a sightseeing tour, even thought it wouldn’t sound so interesting, it really is and it’s great way to see all the best places in London! You really should try it!
Madame Tussoud’s was a great place, atleast I really liked it! Just have to remember to full camera’s batteries! 😉 Oh and (even thought this may sound like a weird thing to tell about London, I think it’s nice! :)), you can also make your own wax hand there, it’s a nice memory from there! ;D ( except that I broke mine…)
One friend of mine recommended The Lion King musical, we didn’t have time to go to any musical but I’m sure that it would have been amazin! Except that if you’re in a hurry, I would say that there’s maybe more interesting things too..
London eye was really nice, we were there in the evening and it was really dark, so the city looked really beautiful!
And then; shopping!!
Oxford street is a must. All the best shops are there! I personally loved Primark, for example I bought two lovely dresses for four pounds! The quality isn’t maybe the best, but the prices are so low that it doesn’t mind!
Then there’s also a huge shopping center in West End called Westfield! You can go there easily by underground, so you get the shopping experience and ungerground experience! 😉 Westfield had so many great shops too ( for example Topshop, Next, Primark…)
, specially on rainy day you should think about that option!
I wish a great trip for you, enjoy London!

London is AMAZING! I went there last year with my dad and we loved it!
You should definitely go to Porto Bello Market in Notting Hill, it’s full of nice little shops! I also recommand you to visit the famous Harrods of course (it’s magnificent in the inside) and there is a big place called ‘Liberty’ just next to Regent Street where you can find lots of things like clothes, fournitures and even flowers if I remember well!
Then if you or your mother like antique boutiques, decoration shops or art gallery there is a whole street called ‘Pimlico Road’ located in the south west of London dedicated to that kind of places (we went into the ‘Gauntlett Gallery’, it’s a funny little place where you can find different type of things like art object or old painting/drawing/sketchs)!
Other nice things you should see in London are Tower Bridge, Trafalgar square (it’s great by night) and also have a walk around the London Eye and Big Ben!
Last thing, if you and your mum have the opportunity to take a bus or to rent a car (you should really try it, it’s so fun to drive on the other side of the road/car! We did it with my dad and we had a big laugh I can tell aha!) I would recommand to drive to Windsor (I know it’s a little far from London – like an hour I think but still worth it) or also to Luton (that’s where we landed and rented the car, and then we first drive through the country side and had rest in a hotel the first night before going to London itself)!
Anyway, there are lots of other great things to see in London (unfortunately we stayed there only 2 and a half days so it was difficult to see everything…)!
Enjoy your 5 days there, I’m looking forward to see your sweet photos 🙂 xx

Oh, I’m just back from a two-week holiday in London! It’s wonderful that you are going to visit this beautiful city. I definitely suggest you to visit The Museum of London, especially if you want to find out more about this city! This Museum is full of exciting exhibitions. Also you can visit TATE gallery (or the museum of modern art) which is quite interesting either!
Victoria and Albert museum is worth visiting too. It has a unique atmosphere and a lot to see. I really liked the section of Asian culture.
What about shopping, a good place to visit is the House of Fraser (http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/). It’s a large department store with a wide range of clothing (the prices are varied – from low to quite high), acessories and cosmetics. Debenhams also worth visiting (http://www.debenhams.com/) You can walk along Oxford street to find TOPSHOP, GAP, Uniqlo etc. Picadilly circus has some good shops too.
Hope i was helpful! Have a nice journey and good luck!

I’m from London!

i’ve been to london this year and it was awesome.
i think camden market is a must – but watch out for the prices they have! you have to very nicely say what you would pay and hope that you will get the things you want the price you want. i think if you are looking for good quality camden market isn’t the best place to go but nice for special food. of course they have a primark there (for very cheap stuff) and topshop and pull&bear and so on….
what you should keep in mind are the high prices they have in general.
the best places to go to grab some food are pret-a-manger (high green qualitiy) and T&S (or was it K&T??) something like that. they serve the food downstairs as they offer clothing upstairs. also very good, green and highquality sandwiches there to find.
also a must: go to a pub and order lager and lime! it’s kind of a beer but doesn’t taste like general beer at all! my friend ordered something called lager and berries (or so) and it was like pink lemonade! tasted soo great! just ask the waitress what she would recommend to you!
watch out for a tube plan! you always have to know which direction you are heading (either north, south, west, east). train comes every ten minutes but just untill 11 p.m i guess.
hope i could help you (;

Hi,
I think you mean M&S the supermarket/clothing store and a nice berry beer (cider actually) is Koppaberg – I think that is probably the one you mean.

I’ve been to London for the last three years and it’s my favourite city. Oh, i want to go to London this summer again. Last spring I went there for the first time and it was totally awesome. My friends and I stayed in a not so comfortable hostel at the Piccadilly Circus. But the location was great! Everything was very near to us. You definitely should go there. There are a lot of nice little pubs and bars. And of course you get to famous theaters and musicals from there. For shopping I can recommend definitely Oxford Street. Everything you need is there: Topshop, River Island, Zara, and so on. It’s great. You should definitely do a Hop on/Hop off bus tour.If you like Harry Potter go and visit the Warner Brothers Studio Tour!
London is simly awesome! My favourite city in the world. If I had the opportunity to live there, I would. The people are so open-minded and friendly and funny! And the fashion and streetstyle is genious!

Hi Marriana,
I live in London and some places I’d definately reccomend for shopping are; either of the Westfields shopping centres, Covent Garden – pretty touristy but it’s a really nice area, New Bond street for some amazing designer (window) shopping, Selfridges, Liberties and Soho is a pretty cool area – maybe check out Carnaby Street. Oh and the Oxford Circus Topshop is a must but beware it will be crazy!
For food, Nandos is crazy popular over here but I’d reccomend the Harvester for some traditional english food. Wagamama’s is also really good! or Wasabi.
Wicked is supposed to be an amazing musical, or Les Mis if you want something more serious. I saw Legally Blonde last year and it was suprisingly good, very funny!
Hope you have a really good time!

Westfield has every single store you can think of from Chanel to Topshop! You have got to visit Harrods! Primrose Hill is really nice aswell, there are really nice cafe’s around there, it’s nice to go there for a cupcake. Kensington Gardens are really nice and so is Kensington. Lot’s of really nice houses! It’s always nice to go to London in May, I hope you have a nice time! xx

For musical, Matilda is really really really good, if you have read the book as well you will love it! the children in the musical are absolutely good at singing and they are all very cute. the props and sets are amazing too, the best I have seen so far.
If you would like some good food, I would recommend L’Autre Pied, a one michelin star restaurant behind Selfridges. great location after shopping. Pre-theatre menu is just £22.5 for 3 courses.
Covent garden is touristy but you can find some hidden gems at seven dials. I really like shopping there.
If you want oriental food, you can try ASSA, a korean restaurant in Soho.

Musikaaleista voin todella lämpimästi suositella Queen-musikaalia “We Will Rock You” jos yhtään semmonen kiinnostaa, ihan mahtava!

i highly recommend the Lion King musical. I watched it in London and it was a magical evening. The actors are wonderful and it was so much fun to watch! I left the theater feeling like I could watch it over a thousand times 🙂

You can be very excited! I went to London with school last year and it was amazing!
You really have to go to Topshop, Abercrombie & Fitch and Harrods when it’s time for shopping. In China Town you find a lot of good chinese restaurants. And a very beautiful place is Notting Hill (I’m sure you know the movie – it was the reason why I definitly wanted to go there).
If you want to buy a souvenir for your beloved ones go to the big souvenir shop at Picadilly Circus. You can find almost everything there!
Somewhere a little bit out of London (unfortunatly I don’t know where exactly anymore) there is a big, beautiful Hindu temple. If you’re interested in things like that you HAVE to visit this beautiful place!
I posted some photos of my london trip on my blog: http://louiswhoo.blogspot.de/2012/01/london-i-miss-you.html
You can check them out if you want 🙂
I hope you’ll spend a great time there, but I’m very sure you will! 🙂 xx

I was in London last year. My aunt lives there six years. I think is one of the best cities where I’ve ever been. You have to go to London Eye- the biggest Ferris wheel in Europe. Views are amaizing! In my opinion the best shops are on Oxford Street. It’s very busy street, there are so many people, but clothes are fantastic! I also was at the London Zoo. It’s very big and animals are great. I think you’ll fall in love in this city.
Nice trip and successful shopping. :))

Hey! I live in London like right in the centre takes me about 15-30 mins to get to Oxford street on the train!(: Its amazing, but watch the people – there’s a lot of them! Also don’t bother going to Buckingham Palace it is not that great, but defo go to Oxford and Regents street – the Topshop there is amazing! It’s huge! People always say to ‘Take the underground!’ but really don’t avoid it if you can! It is smelly and congested and not what people make it out to be. If you feel like ‘spending your cash’ go to the Theater, I go with my family every summer and I have seen, Wicked, Oliver, Billy Elliot and Les Miserable, but the best one is Wicked, and get good seats! I have seem Wicked three times now and want to go again! It is breathtaking, the singing will give you goose bumps. Also since you are Scandinavian -like me – there is a ‘SCAN KITCHEN’ right of Regents street off a road called Mortimer street (where my modelling agency Select is!). It serves open sandwiches and hot dogs the Scandinavian way (: Here is the address :
61 Great Titchfield Street
London W1W 7PP
I go there all the time (I am danish by the way)
Hope this helps! If you want more information from someone who knows best contact me ! [email protected] xxx

Hi Marianna! You HAVE TO visit camden town (there is undeground’s station named like this). There is a lot clothes and they’re completely different than in the rest of the world. it’s rather punk, rock and for this kind of people but I’m sure, that you’ll find sth for you. My favourite shop there is PUNKY FISH. You can visit their website at first, but clothes form that shop are really amazing. Oh I could tell you such a lot of things about London. I love this city. If you’d like to visit some museums choose British Museum (to visit it all you need at least few days but few hours can be a good start :)), Natural History Museum is pretty cool too. Hmm… what else can I say…? I could talk about London for hours, because I love it SO much. You’ll love it too. I’m sure about it. If you’d like some tips you can always e-mail me. My iPhone is working all the time hahah 🙂
Ahh… and Oxford Street is almost ALWAYS full of people, but well… is that surprising? ;> Ah, and second-hands in London are really cool. I know some great ones. I bought there Channel bag (almost new) for about 20 pounds. And if you want to buy some cheap clothes DO NOT go to primark. Yes clothes there are so cheap, but they destroy quickly (yes, there is some good ones but their quality are still not the best…)
Ohh i wrote so much. Hope you’d love my love 🙂
kisses and good luck ! <3

Lucky you! I was in London in 2010 but only with my English class from school. The things I haven’t done but would definitely like to do in London is visit the Tower and do a boat’s tour on the Thames.
I can only recommend the Hyde Park which is really nice and the Park in Greenwich where all the squirrels are jumping around.

I really loooove London and I’ve been there on vacation for 3 times, last time was just a month ago 🙂 Everyone else has probably already shared the most common shopping streets etc. so I will go with one of the not so usual places to visit, a breakfast club called The Breakfast Club 😉 here is a link to their website: http://www.thebreakfastclubcafes.com/ I only visited the one located near the Liverpool street station, but I loved it! The place had one of the most welcoming atmospheres I’ve experienced anywhere and the food, it was so delicious, a bit pricey for breakfast yes, but at least the serving was big enough to cover for breakfast and lunch 🙂 The cafe was worth visiting also for its furniture and decoration, all the mix&match chairs and worn armchairs were just perfectly dated looking to make the space look cool and young 😀 My personal favorite was one of the waiter’s t-shirt, it was bright bright yellow and had a rainbow on it with the text “Raindows are gay”. 😀
