It’s set now, I’m leaving to Dubai on Monday! One week under the sunshine, oh it’ll be perfect. I’ve never left this quickly and randomly to a holiday, but now it feels like the best idea ever. I’m spending my birthday on the plane the way back home, what a coincidence! Can I wish beforehand a prepared birthday cake dessert for everyone? Haha kidding, I couldn’t wish for more, than spending it with good memories in a lovely company, with Mona. And perhaps with a tan and some good shoppings. ;-D I have a feeling I’ll have tons of pictures to show you guys later, and I’ll of course continue blogging from there. Right now shooting outfits in a warm place sounds like a dream.
I’ve never been to Dubai, so if you have, please share if you have some tips! Or anything, I’m just really interested to hear how you’ve liked it and experienced it! So thank you already beforehand!

OMG! Dubai! Marianna, there isnt’t a single day that I do not think about Dubai… I lived there from 2003 to 2005 and it is my dream place! The only place where I truly felt at home and where I lost my heart 🙂 I wish nothing more than to move back.
It is important that you do not view Dubai in a typically tourist way – try to look behind the scenes, into the small alleys, down the back streets, visit the old quarter – Bastakyia – go to the souks… but ofc also pay a visit to the Burj Al Arab, the Burj Khalifa, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel (in there is a German restaurant, haha, I did visit it a few times to have some cuisine from home!), do a desert trip, ofc be at the beach and shop at the maills… there is so much…
October is usually the best time of the year to visit, the weather has cooled down to a good 30+ degrees, the humidity has gone down also and the air is not so misty anymore. Also, the gulf water doesn’t have bathtub temp anymore (I was always tempted to pour bath gel in there and have a wash, so warm!) and the water taps do actually deliver water that isn’t plain skin burning 🙂
I so envy you, I do hope to be able to go again also soon! Have the best time and please, take a million pics 😀

Ah I’m so jealous right now! You definitely need to visit the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa 🙂 I don’t know a lot about Dubai, but I’m sure you’ll love it. And Mona is such a lovely girl! Oh have fun sweet girls! x

Hi 🙂
I live in Dubai and it’s amazing here
Your actually coming at the end of end so hopefully there will still be some great shopping deals! It’s still pretty hot at the moment but the humidity isn’t that bad which is a surprise 🙂 taxi here are very cheap but actually the metro is such an easy way to get from one place to another espically the malls. Have so much fun here I hope you love it as much as I do xx
Ellie says
Also just a tip the tap water isn’t really drinkable here, it’s okay for like one glass if your really thirsty and can’t be bothered to go get a bottle but bottle is the way to go and it’s so cheap any way – in restaurants always ask for local water because that’s the cheapest one otherwise they’ll give you Evan which is really expensive
Simone says
Hello, I lived in Dubai and really would love to go back, I hope to be able to one day 🙂 For how long have you been living there? I stayed in Umm Suqeim 1 which I loved, so quiet yet central, it was easy to get everywhere (however, no metro back then yet).
I used to drink Masafi all the time, I guess it is still available everywhere for a good price, or?
Have a great remaining week and weekend 🙂

Ok I’ll give u a list of some of my favorites here:
Spa: Talise Ottoman spa in Zabeel Saray. You can actually go to their pool n gym if u book a spa session. It’s on the crescent of palm jumeirah.
Buffet: jumeirah beach hotel buffet
Breakfast: social house at the Dubai mall (amazing waffles)
Mall restaurant: Cheesecake Factory
Splurge restaurant: Atmosphere at the top of burj khalifa
Arabic food: Qbara Lebanese restaurant at Wafi mall. Hallab also has good arabic food and is cheaper.
Bar: Neos bar in Address hotel downtown
Random favorites: dubai mall ( though it is expensive to shop in Dubai) fountain show at the Dubai mall, the water park at the Atlantis ( u can swim with dolphins there too), you can scuba dive in the aquarium at the Dubai mall. JBR is nice to visit for a walk and a stop for coffee or something.
I feel like I talked about food a lot haha If I think of any more things I’ll come back! :p
Enjoy your trip! 🙂

I live in Dubai for three years now. Its a fun place and I’m sure you will love it. Specially the shopping in the worlds biggest mall. Kind of crazy and great at the same time.
I suggest having a day at Nassimi beach club on The Palm, my favorite if you want a more lux beach experience but not too crazy prized.
And for breakfast try Tom & Serg cafe in Al Quoz its a cool vibe and great coffee and located in a more industrial area.
Out of the more touristy things desert safari is a lot of fun and you get some amazing pictures in the desert.
The Beach mall on JBR is super pretty for strolling around and randomly picking a restaurant you feel like.
For a fancy night out with amazing Arabic food i definitely recommend Qbara at Wafi Mall.
One of my favorite more easy going restaurants with amaaazing food and cocktails is Fume in Pier 7 at the Dubai Marina. Its a relaxed one and not so very dubai glitz and glamour but has a great lively vibe.
Have a fantastic holiday!

Hei Marianna. Olen asunut Dubaissa jo useamman vuoden, tässä muutamia vinkkejä paikoista ja jutuista joista itse pidän.
-Shoppailuun Dubai mall. Sinne kannattaa mennä jo aukeamisaikaan eli kymmeneltä jos haluaa välttää pahimmat ruuhkat jotka alkaa jo kahden aikaan.
– Dubai mall fountain.
-tiistain ladies night. Eli naisille ilmasia juomia, yleensä skumppaa. Näitä järjestetään baareissa jokapuolella Dubaita, mutta yksi suosituimmista on Marinan yacht club, sieltä terassilta on kiva jbr view.
-Sky baarit. Neon kattobaarista on upeat burj khalifa näkymät. (Address mall downtown, Dubai moolin vieressä.) 40 kong on kattoterassi joka on uusi trendikäs paikka ja käymisen arvoinen. Kannattaa mennä ajoissa ettei joudu jonottamaan. (The H-hotel)
-vanhan kaupungin soukit ja kulta soukit. Kannattaa mennä alkuillasta, ovat päivällä osittain suljettu. Varaudu kovaan tyrkyttämis-meininkiin.
-The spa (Palace hotel downtown) Arabityylinen spa itsensä hemmotteluun.
-desert safari. Jos haluaa aavikolle. Suosittelen aamupaiva safaria. (desertsafaridubai.com)
Toivottavasti näistä on apua, oikein mahtavaa reissua teille!

Ensinnäkin Dubai Mall, aivan uskomaton ostoskeskus jossa on kaikkea kaikille. Kauppoja siellä on valtavasti eli kannattaa tehdä jonkinnäköinen suunnitelma mitä haluat siellä nähdä koska kaiken kiertämiseen menee ikuisuus. Seuraava juttu onkin Dubai Mallin ‘takapihalla’. Siellä näytetään joka päivä fountain show. Toinen juttu mikä siellä takapihalla on on tietenkin Burj Khalifa eli maailman korkein rakennus.
Toinen näkemisen arvoinen paikka on Marina.
Tähän aikaan Dubaissa on kuuma. Ostoskeskuksissa on muutenkin aika kovalla ilmastoinnit joten villatakki on ihan hyvä vaate.

SO the first thing you need to do is explore the hotel you are staying at, the pool and the services, next you have to go exploring the Mall, there they have most of the cool activities, you can do even skying (yeah)! The whole city is amazing, especially at night!

Nauti lomastasi Marianna, teillä tulee varmasti olemaan huikeeta! 🙂
Heidi S says
Näköjään koko teksti täynnä kirjotusvirheitä.. Pahoittelen! 🙂

Oi onnekas, dubai on aivan ihana!! Libanonialaiset ravintolat on hyviä ja Jumerah rannan lähellä on muistaakseni Sky bar -niminen ravintola talon ylimmän kerroksen parvekkeella, ihanat maisemat siis!
Ihanaa matkaa!

Mariannan, you will 100% have a great time there.
Here are some tips:
1) try to catch sunset on Top of Burj Khalifa – the view will be amazing. Or go there at night and see all the city lights. At a day time it is almost the same as from the airplane 🙂
2) jeep safari can be a fun experience
3) using the metro it is better to pick the “women only” cabin, even though the rule works for the specific hours, men rarelly use it at all. This cabin is always less crowded and you will be prevented from uncomfortable looks from weird men.
4) visit Budha-bar. They say it is an awesome place.
5) If you have some extra time from shopping and sunbathing take a trip to Abu Dhabi and feel the difference 🙂 And their you’ll have a chance to visit that beautiful Sheikh Zayed Mosque
6) If you feel into some extrem try to jump with a parachut at the Palm Jumeirah. The view is incredible and breathtaking.
Have a nice trip!
