My Christmas Bucket List

christmas_memories2

Watch the best Christmas movies:
Home Alone 1&2, The Holiday, Love Actually, Elf, A Christmas Carol. (If you have movie tips – please share!) // Added: The Family Stone, The Polar Express, Bridget Jones

❄ Taste the seasonal drinks in cafes. Peppermint mochas & gingerbread lattes. Maybe try making some at home, need to google for recipes…

❄ Bake & decorate Christmas cookies. I love love love this, it’s creativity and sweet things combined together.

❄ Decorate a gingerbread house? Haven’t done this in years, but maybe it could be this year’s challenge.

❄ Katso parhaat joululeffat:
Home Alone 1&2, The Holiday, Love Actually, Elf, A Christmas Carol. (Jos teillä on leffavinkkejä mielessä – kertokaa ihmeessä!)

❄ Maista kahviloiden jouluisia kausimakuja.

christmas_memories3

❄ Wear your ugly Christmas sweater. It’s bright red with a reindeer and all kind of details, hahah need to show you guys!

❄ Go listen to Christmas songs at a church with one of your best friends. We planned this today, afterwards we’ll go out to eat in a cozy restaurant, probably the one we went to for the first time ever when we got to know each other years ago.

❄ Do your own Christmas cards. Every year I make my own ones, another thing I love. Usually I draw them myself instead of crafting (?) but now I’ve bought some small decoration things, so we’ll see what I come up with this year! I love to plan one night for this thing, play Christmas songs in the background, have a cup of mulled wine, light up some candles and just let the creativity flow!

christmas_memories

❄ Wear more sparkly things. I’d love to find the perfect sparkly dress or a skirt, or a festive shirt, something for Christmas Eve. If there’s one day every year I want to feel the best, it’s Christmas Eve. I want to be sparkly yet comfortable, hahah that’s like me described in general.

❄ Take out your Christmas pajama! (The second best outfit on Christmas Eve.) My favorite one is probably my red and white flannel pants and a cotton sweater with sequins.

❄ Buy home Christmas flowers. My number one favorite is hyacinth, the smell is just incredible. I always get a blue one, it smells the strongest.

(Jouluaaton toiseksi paras asu.) Lempparini on ehkä mun punavalkoflanellihousut ja svetari jossa paljettikirjailuja.

❄ Osta kotiin joulukukkia. Ainakin hyasintti, se on se mulle tärkein. Ja mieluiten sininen, se tuoksuu voimakkaiten, ja niin uskomattoman hyvältä.

I follow you for years now and it’s so cool to see all those old christmas pictures again. Btw, I’d love too see your christmas cookies recipe. They are much darker and look more flavored then the average German cookie recipe. And all your Villeroy and Boch Christmas dishes, that’s such a cool collection. I own one piece myself and it’s such a pretty adulty way to celebrate christmas

That’s so nice, thank you <3 I'm always amazed how you can remember here some really old pictures! I always use for the cookies a ready-bake dough (by either Sunnuntai or Myllyn Paras - the two most popular brands), here in Finland it's really common to use one like that. Soon I'm getting those Christmas dishes back in use, I love the Villeroy and Boch Christmas collection! 🙂 And I agree! x

Absolutely a big yay for this bucket list! Everything that involves Christmas is perfect. During this time of the year, when it looks grey outside all the time and rain keeps falling down, I intend to dream about Christmas haha. Or.. I just put on a Christmas movie and I’m in a better mood already. The movies you named are indeed the must-see movies, no matter how many times you watch these, they’ll never get boring. I also like the movie ‘Four Christmases’, definitely a must-see! Hallmark also released some very lovely (not-so-deep-going) Christmas movies, such as ‘A Cookie Cutter Christmas’. And I must say that even though it’s not a real Christmas movie, ‘Serendipity’ somehow gives me that warm winter feeling as well! – xx Carian

Love this list and the idea of making one–it puts the focus on enjoying the holidays instead of going crazy with the busyness! This was so relaxing to read and got me all excited! And I make my own Christmas cards too; I always enjoy seeing yours–can’t wait to see what you come up with. And the way you described putting on music and drinking mulled wine and getting really into it sounds just perfect.

You already mentioned a lot of my favorite Christmas movies, but here are a few more: Love the Coopers (watched this for the first time last year and reallyyyy loved it), Miracle on 34th Street (1994), and It’s a Wonderful Life (a classic–makes me cry!). I also watched Holiday Engagement and 12 Dates of Christmas on Hulu one year and they were pretty good!

Loving your bucket list – it’s close to mine but different enough to give me some good ideas to add! I’ve never had a gingerbread latte. Is that sinful? Is it really worth the hype? I’m definitely a big fan of peppermint mochas though!

I’d also recommend Miracle on 34th Street. For me it brings back the childhood. 🙂 And also Letters to St. Nicholas (Listy do M.), but I’m not sure you can get this one, because it’s Polish. But really try, because it seriously is the best!

Making your own Christmas cards is such a lovely little pre-Christmas activity! Anything with sparkles is perfect at this time of year. I just wish it wasn’t always so scratchy… like when they put metallic thread in jumpers and you can feel it on your skin and it’s a bit uncomfortable… but I guess that’s a small price to pay for being sparkly! Singing Christmas carols at church sounds so sweet and cosy ☺️ xx
