After Christmas somewhere between Christmas Day and Boxing Day I always start feeling a little melancholic and sad about the fact that Christmas is over. I’d still want to have the Christmas Eve ahead of me, listen to Christmas songs, feel warm and cozy. And not wait for 11 months to do that! But then I remember New Year’s Eve is coming, a new year is always a new start. And I love new fresh starts, that’s when you can look at your life in bigger picture. Think about the person you want to be, the life you want to have, dream and plan. Be inspired, forget the past (incase it holds you back), feel grateful for everything you have. I will write more of my thoughts about the new year later.
Do you ever feel the post-Christmas sadness? And how do you survive it?

The new year is always a beautiful thing to welcome ahead, I do feel slightly sad to say good bye to 2016. It’s that time of year when I wish time would slowww down completely and let me enjoy it forever! 🙂

Yep, can’t hide that I feel the post Christmas blues too but I’m very happy that the new year is about to start as well!
Sunny days do uplift me, so more of those and more often would be perfect! 😀

I also get the post-Christmas blues. I find it really sad when it transitions from December, a cozy month where family come together, shops are filled with Christmas decorations and music and the home looks so festive and cozy to January which I feel is a cold, bland, lifeless month.
I think the antidote to these blues is to focus on the positive of a new year. All the possibilities, the chance to reflect on the year and plan. I’m starting a self-care challenge on the New Year to ease me into it where I’m going to go through this list and do one everyday for the first 50 days of 2017. https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/162903711501864305/ 🙂

On the contrary, I feel relieved when the festivities end! Perhaps it is because in my country (Italy), Christmas is a rather commercial, we are obsessed with advertising as early as mid-November … maybe in small countries Christmas is still lived in a different dimension, but in the city is tiring, every year I would like to relocate to Japan throughout the Christmas period 🙂

I agree. I am sick of Christmas and I look forward to you posting on different things as well. I don’t celebrate so it was a little difficult for me to relate to your posts over the last couple of months.
I still love you, though. Bought two books today that you recommended xox (Marie Kondo & Gabrielle Bernstein).

Mutta muuten luulen et post-christmas bluesseja hoidetaan parhaiten uutta vuotta innolla odotellen ja suunnitellen 🙂 New year, new start <3

You can do all the warm and cozy stuff you like about Christmas (crashing into your parents, reading, listening to music, eating…) any day you want! Why don’t you make it a new year’s resolution to “celebrate Christmas” once every three months, for example? 🙂
Marianna says
A good idea actually! 🙂 Yeah I need a little bit of that warm Christmas feeling into every month! x

Marianna says
Noi kuulostaa kaikki aivan loistavilta keinoilta, oon ottanut oikeastaan vähän mallia tästä, auttaa 😀 Kiitos ihanasta kommentista Lumikki!

Well, yesterday was really hard for me, as I had to go back to work… right after Christmas! The small tree in my office didn’t seem as enchating as just a few days ago, people were grumpy and all I could think of was going back home to hide under the duvet… So here you go, the most epic kind of post-Christmas blues! Getting better, though! I guess I should buy myself a pot of hyacinth bulbs or a bunch of tulips to get my mind into a spring mood already… 🙂
Kisses from Poland!
Marianna says
I really know what you mean, I’ve felt like I’d like to spend every day until NYE under a duvet. 😀 That sounds like a really good idea! x
Markéta says
Yeah it’s true but then I realized that Christmas is magical and unique because it’s just once a year and couple days, maybe that’s why it’s so special. So I am okay with dealing with this. However one more day would not kill anybody :)))

I don’t really get post-Christmas blues as Christmas is not as big a thing here in Singapore, but I definitely think looking forward to a new year full of opportunities can put one in a good mood again 🙂

Hi Mariannan!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas.
I totally understand how you feel about Post-Christmas blues. I’ve got them too 🙁 To get by, I have been (still) listening to Christmas music, and lighting holiday scented candles every day! Is that silly? I’m trying to soak it up as much as I can until the new year haha.
Also, have you ever thought about doing a “What’s in my Bag” post? I just noticed that a majority of your bags are quite large! I’m so nosey and love seeing the “What’s in my bag” videos and posts that bloggers tend to do. I would love to know what you carry with you!
Happy New Year btw!

Marianna says
Kuulostaa tutulta, tulevan suunnittelu ja uuden vuoden ajattelu on kyllä paras lääke 🙂 Kiitos kommentista Anni!

The truth is that Christmas can be enjoyed the best when you are a Christian child (like me) and celebrate Christmas also in a spiritual way and if you have the luck (like me) that you have a family you are really bond with deeply from the heart. This way the Christmas blues won’t catch you that easily. By the way, to donate something makes me more happy than to get something.
