Spring blouses & sleeping problems

Light blue, big pleated sleeves, a belt in the middle, almost in a shirt dress length. (Probably just because I’m short.) Really like it. From H&M if you’re interested.

I had such a great day yesterday, but I definitely always feel it in my body when I don’t get enough sleep. The 4 AM wakeup and arriving home after midnight was quite rough. (I was traveling yesterday as I mentioned earlier, just a little work trip you’ll hear more about later.) I’ve been having a sleepless phase now for about one month, I have these usually once a year. I always see the reason why it happens, and the reason is always positive. I just have more energy and don’t know how to turn off my brain. But as you can guess, it turns around at some point when you don’t have physically energy in your body anymore, even if your brain would be working 24/7. And my stomach can’t handle the addiction towards caffeinated drinks anymore, everything caffeinated has kept me going.

Now I’m only writing about this since I know it’s getting better, feels more relieving to talk about it. My new favorite nighttime routines: using an aroma diffuser (love the sound, the smell, the soft moisturised air feeling), dim lights and no bright screens, a calm playlist on the background or just a playlist of nature voices. And all white sheets. How ridiculous if I think white sheets will help sleeping problems, might just be coincidence that when I went back to them my mind feels more calm going to sleep.

Mulla on ollut nyt meneillään noin kuukauden ajan pieni uneton kausi. Olisikohan viimeisimmästä samanlaisesta aikaa noin puolitoista vuotta… Mutta aina silloin tällöin näitä tulee. Hassua kyllä, syy näihin on aina positiivinen, kun tulee ihan oikeasti siis unettomuuskausi eikä vain vähän uniongelmia. Musta tuntuu että aivot välillä heräävät talviunilta ja käyvät yhtäkkiä niin ylikierroksilla ympäri vuorokauden, jolloin niitä on mahdotonta sammuttaa. Alkuun se ei haittaa yhtään, mutta siinä vaiheessa kun kropassa ei enää vain ole energiaa vaikka mielessä sitä olisikin, niin kääntyy tuo itseä vastaan. Hyvät yöunet on niin tärkeä pohja kaikelle. Ja nyt täytyy sanoa ettei mun vatsa enää tunnu kestävän tätä kofeiinin määrää, addiktio ei enää rajoitu pelkkään kahviin, vaan kaikkiin piristäviin kofeiinipitoisiin juomiin.

Mutta kirjoitan tästä oikeastaan vasta nyt noin kuukauden jälkeen, kun tuntuu että uniongelmat lähtevät ratkeamaan. Nukuin viime yönä työreissun jälkeen ekaa kertaa aikoihin 8 tunnin pitkät sikeät unet ja heräsin aivan uutena ihmisenä. Vähän se univelka painaa, mutta nyt tuntuu että jotain silti naksahti parempaan suuntaan. Ja ehkä mä olin stressannut reissuakin (hyvällä tavalla), ja nyt sen suhteen oon kaikkeni antanut. No mutta, nyt mä menen nukkumaan tästä jaarittelemasta. Mujista löydetty diffuuseri päälle (oon rakastunut tähän!), hämärät valot, valkoiset lakanat, rauhallinen playlist taustalle ja kirjan lukemista hetki. Siinä mun uusia ja vanhoja hyväksi todettuja iltarutiineja. (Valkoiset lakanat tuntuu turhalta mainita, mutta sattumaa tai ei iltaisin mieli on tuntunut vain rauhallisemmalta kun oon palannut niihin. ?)

    I tend to struggle with sleep also. What scents are you using? Lavender pillow spray is my favorite for starting to calm down at night. I also like to signal that my “busy” day is ending with a meditation, and then my brain knows it’s time to wind down and get ready for sleep. I love reading at night, but sometimes the story is too exciting that it wakes up my brain again! 🙂

    Lack of sleep seems to have invaded our lives at some point. Sometimes a warm cup of chamomile tea and a pinch of sweet honey will calms the mind and ease the tension in the body for a good night of sleep. ????

  • Ugh, I so understand sleeping problems! I have trouble going to sleep – sometimes I toss and turn in bed until like 7am, then have to get up several hours later! 🙁

    Fresh white sheets and essential oils do help me/ make a difference in getting better sleep so there is some “sense” in this theory. 😀
    I haven’t been getting that much sleep lately either, being more energetic and also due to the brightness early on in the morning, I just can’t seem to sleep past 5:30am. 😛

    Oh M., you have no idea for how long I’ve been struggling with insomnia. Sleepless night after sleepless night and even tho I felt so tired I couldn’t fall asleep, my brain was trying to hold on every single thought on my mind. I practiced some relaxation, reading before going to bed and keeping my mind chilled in general but that didn’t help either. I remember I reached the point when I thought to myself “I won’t be able to fall asleep ever again”.
    It’s not like you’re gonna say to yourself “It’s fine, relax and try to sleep” and your body will listen to that. I don’t know, the thing with me was finding a new job, not exactly the dream one but at least that kept my brain occupied cause I tend to overthink in general. It gets better every day and as long as you won’t let yourself panic (like I used to do) you will get through that. It still happens to me from time to time but I find it be just normal.

    I know it’s easy to say but it will get better eventually 🙂 Take care!
